Adobe Photoshop, the image editing program par excellence, is now 30 years old. This application is the world’s best known and has tens of millions of users used for graphic design, image processing in media such as print, cinema, fashion, and web.
Developer, Thomas Knoll, a Michigan student first created a program to display grayscale images. This program was called Display and aroused great interest in John Knoll, his brother, who recommended converting this program into a fully-featured image editor.
Thomas worked hard on the development and changed the name of the program to ImagePro, but this name had to be changed again and thus Photoshop was officially born. On February 19, 1990, Photoshop 1.0 officially launched exclusively for the Macintosh. The application evolved dramatically and after it was purchased by Adobe, Photoshop’s code changed rapidly, making it one of the most powerful tools on the market.
The first version available for Windows was Photoshop v2.5 and 3.0, which already implemented the famous multi-layer work system, which allows multiple images to be used in a single work area.
Photoshop became the world’s leading photo editing software because of its features. Why is it still a superior option despite a host of other options, some of which are often considered to be more technologically advanced?
Photoshop Is Easy To Use For Beginners
When Photoshop launched many years ago, graphic design professionals praised its ease of use. This was true for both beginners and even those with software experience. Nothing has changed over the years. Even if you’re new to the graphic design world, it’s easy to get started with Photoshop. As you develop your skills and gain more knowledge, Photoshop grows with you, from beginners to experienced professionals. Its programs have all the expected tools and functions that are easy to understand and use.
Photoshop is Versatile
The success of Photoshop has spawned some competitors. While some have taken a small share of the market, none have been able to take the throne from Adobe’s Photoshop. One of the main reasons for this is its versatility.
Let’s put it this way: you can work with any picture, regardless of the motif and format, and design it the way you want it. Cropping, editing, blurring, and coloring and it doesn’t matter what you need to do, Photoshop has all of the proper tools specific for your needs, to get the job done.
Photoshop Is Fast.
Some people don’t mind working in Photoshop for hours. You upload pictures, edit them, delete them, and start again. You like to learn. You enjoy the creative process. And then some are in a hurry. For example, if you’re a professional graphic designer, you usually don’t have much time to edit a photo. Instead, you’re in a hurry to get the job done so you can move on to the next. Photoshop lets you edit images in a fast and efficient environment. The more experience you have, the faster you can move.
Photoshop’s Vast Variety of Courses and Methods of Learning
You can learn Photoshop in a formal or informal environment. Can you say the same about the Adobe Photoshop competitors? I bet not. Many colleges and universities in the U.S. offer Photoshop courses available in accrediated universities. I doubt you can get similar courses for a program such as Affinity Photo.
Today, millions of people use Adobe Photoshop to create astonishing compositions that change the way we see the world. No application is more popular than Photoshop. Although more and more rivals are appearing, Adobe has been able to crush its competition with its broad range of programs. With that said, thank you to the developers at Adobe for making Photoshop more than the program it was 30 years ago, which is loved by many us because it solves our graphic design daily work.
